Not too long ago, Facebook changed its company name to Meta. While the Facebook social media platform still exists, the company is shifting its focus from social media to the Metaverse.

But what is the Metaverse? In essence, the Metaverse is what some think will be the future of the internet. Accessible via VR headsets and equipment, users will be able to enter virtual environments, speak to other Metaverse users in real time via avatars, and explore the virtual universe while their avatar mimics their real-life motions.

Some theorize that the Metaverse will be much more than that though. A place where people will work from home with a virtual office space, shop in virtual stores for real products, and meet up with friends at virtual events like concerts.

Will the Metaverse become part of our daily lives and the next era of the internet? It’s hard to say right now, but it will primarily depend on if people and companies are willing to embrace the concept it or reject it.
