2026 Directory Cover Contest Winner

The Story Behind the Directory Cover: Catching Lightning in Kenton
Every year, our photo contest brings in some truly breathtaking views of the PTCI area. This year, the winning shot that secured the cover spot of the upcoming PTCI Directory is nothing short of electric!
We recently had the chance to chat with our contest winner, Heather Gibson, about the inspiration behind her incredible image and what it means to represent our local area. As a professional photographer, she is no stranger to capturing beautiful moments, but the story behind this specific shot proves that the best opportunities are usually unplanned.
Here is what she had to say about capturing the winning photo:
"It’s actually kind of a funny story! I was driving home near Kenton, OK, after a professional shoot when a storm started rolling in. I didn't have my tripod on me, but the sunset was just too beautiful to pass up. I ended up using the hood of my car to steady my camera for a long exposure. The wind was absolutely howling, and it was just starting to sprinkle, but when I finally caught that lightning strike, I literally jumped up with excitement! To me, this photo is a perfect reminder of the magic that happens when you take the time to stop for the little things, and it definitely paid off this time. I’m just super humbled to have my work featured on the cover and to represent the PTCI area."
Her photo is a fantastic reminder to appreciate the natural beauty right in our own backyard. Sometimes, all it takes is pulling over and braving a little wind to witness something spectacular.
Huge congratulations to Heather on her stunning work! Keep an eye out for her photography on the cover of the upcoming PTCI Directory (yes, we still publish the phone book, and with covers like this, we are so glad we do!). We also want to extend a massive thank you to everyone who submitted their art. We had so many incredible entries this year that our talented runners-up will be featured throughout our 2027 photo calendar!
