JETNET ADSL INSTALLATION GUIDE
Note: Touch a grounded metal object to rid yourself of static electricity before you handle the card. To avoid damaging it, handle the card by the edges, using your thumbs to push it securely into the slot. Make sure the card is fully inserted to prevent Windows from freezing at startup.
Section A: Installing the Network Card
- Shut down Windows and make sure the computer is off. Unplug the power cord.
- Remove the cover of the computer chassis.
- Keep a hand in contact with the metal computer chassis or use an anti-static wrist strap to provide grounding.
- Insert the modem into the PCI slot (or ISA slot if you have an ISA card) that is farthest from the rest of the PC architecture.
- Press the card firmly into the slot to make sure it is properly seated.
- Replace the chassis cover and turn your computer back on.

(The Windows 95 hardware wizard appears slightly different, but the steps are identical.)
- You will see an "Add New Hardware Wizard" screen. Click Next.
- Make sure the option "Search for the best driver for your device" is selected. Click Next.
- Make sure "Specify a location" is checked. Click Browse.
- You will get a list labeled "Browse for folder". Insert the Netgear driver disk. Double click the symbol for your 3-1/2 floppy (A:\) drive in the list. It will then display the contents of the disk. Click on the folder labeled Netgear. Click OK.
- You will be back to the "Add New Hardware Wizard". Click Next.
- It will then say "Please wait while Windows searches for drivers..." Then it will state "Windows is now ready to install the best driver for this device..." Click Next.
- Windows will now copy files and install the drivers. You may be asked for your Windows CD. If so, insert the CD; make sure your CD drive letter appears in the "Copy files from" field, and click OK at the prompt. If you get the message "Error, the file "****" could not be found..." call the Internet help desk for assistance: (800) 562-2556, 338-2556 for Guymon.
- Wait until prompted to restart. It may take a few minutes. When prompted to restart, remove the Netgear disk and click yes. When Windows reloads, the Netgear card should be shown as a network adapter Under the Network icon and the System icon in Control Panel. You should now be ready to set up your external JETNET ADSL( modem. If you experience any problems, see the troubleshooting section below, or call the Internet Help Desk.
